Debra Vogler is president and founder of Instant Insight Inc. Under that banner, she serves as a strategy consultant to SEMI and has planned the advanced lithography and scaling technical sessions at SEMICON West since 2012. She is also senior technical editor of Chip Scale Review magazine.
During her 20-year career in journalism, Ms. Vogler was also a senior technical editor of several semiconductor equipment industry publications at PennWell Publishing, including Solid State Technology, Photovoltaics World, and Small Times. Having written hundreds of technology news stories since 2000, she is a seasoned journalist and an experienced interviewer; she also produced and hosted several hundred video and audio interviews with semiconductor and photovoltaics industry executives and technologists.
Prior to her journalism career, she had a 20-year career in reliability engineering: 10 years in the defense electronics industry (Litton Applied Technology); and 10 years in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry (Varian Thin Film Systems, and at Watkins Johnson-SEG, where she was Quality Systems Director). While at Varian and WJ-SEG, she was active in SEMI International Standards, serving as Technical Architect of the Metrics Committee, and Co-chair of the E10 Subcommittee.
Under the company she founded, she is the executive producer of the pilot episode of Curious Duck ®, the science show. She earned BS (1975) and MS (1977) degrees in physics from Marquette University.
